FAQ

WHAT IS CHIROPRACTIC?

Chiropractic is a healthcare profession concerned with the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system and their effects on the functioning of the nervous system and overall health.

IS CHIROPRACTIC SAFE?

Just like physiotherapy or manual therapy, chiropractic treatments are absolutely safe. Chiropractors are university-educated (5 years) and intensively trained in practice to perform treatments on the spine. Your chiropractor is required to complete annual continuing education courses to maintain their registration. If your chiropractor is unsure about the cause of your pain or symptoms, you will always be referred to your GP for further examination.

Your health and safety are always our top priority!

IS A TREATMENT PAINFUL?

Our patients often indicate that we pinpoint exactly the sore spot. They rarely experience the treatment as painful, but if pressure is applied to a sensitive area, you can of course feel it. We are also often told that it is a pleasant pain, because you feel that something is being done about it.

DO I NEED A REFERRAL FROM MY GP?

Just like for a visit to the dentist or physiotherapist, you do not need a referral from your GP for a consultation with a chiropractor. If you have received a referral from your GP, please bring it with you to your first intake appointment. If the symptoms and diagnosis warrant it, we can contact your GP in consultation with you.

IS CHIROPRACTIC COVERED BY REIMBURSEMENT?

As we are registered with the Dutch Chiropractic Foundation (SCN) and the Dutch Chiropractors Association (NCA), consultations are reimbursed by many health insurance companies. Reimbursements vary by company and policy. Please inquire with your insurance company regarding the applicable reimbursements and conditions. To be eligible for reimbursement, you always need a supplementary policy. Also check www.chiropractievergoeding.nl

DO YOU ALSO TREAT BABIES?

Chiropractors are trained to safely treat babies using special techniques. Chiropractie Wassenaar possesses extensive experience and expertise.

By applying these adapted techniques, the chiropractor removes blockages in the small joints, which leads to relaxation in the muscles. This restores the function of the baby’s spine and nervous system. The sooner a blockage is corrected, the sooner asymmetry in the spine as well as the nervous system is prevented. The treatments also have a preventive effect. Any abnormalities can be corrected in time, and complaints during the baby’s development can be prevented.
