Maintenance Treatment

In our practice, we regularly receive the question, “Why do I still need to come in when I no longer have any complaints?” Most patients come to our practice with acute or chronic complaints of the musculoskeletal system. After they have completed the correction and stabilization phase, the maintenance phase begins. During this phase, patients have few to no complaints, but they come in once every 4 to 12 weeks (depending on the individual) for a treatment so that the previously achieved results are maintained. It actually works the same way as your check-up appointment at the dentist or the MOT for your car!

But why is this necessary? Daily activities place a strain on our bodies. Think of prolonged (incorrect) working and/or sitting postures, stress, sports, incorrect sleeping positions and so on. These strains on our bodies cause blockages/problems in the spine. Through maintenance treatments, we keep a close eye on the condition of your spine and blockages can be resolved in time before they lead to greater problems and pain. You will not immediately feel a minor abnormality in your spine. If the pain is present, that minor abnormality will have worsened to such an extent that multiple treatments are needed again to make you symptom-free. And then we are back in the first corrective phase. Naturally, we want to prevent this. After all, your chiropractor had already detected that minor abnormality during the check-up and could have prevented it from getting worse.

By visiting the chiropractor regularly, getting enough exercise, and maintaining proper sitting, sleeping and working postures, you are taking preventive measures.
